A gift from big sister to Brother and his bride to be read out at their wedding, they live 5000 miles apart.

What is your name : Debbie and Scott

Who do you want the poem written for: My brother Andrew and his new wife to me, Christine

Why do you want the poem written: I moved to the USA from the UK when my little bro was only 11 years old and I missed out a lot on his growing up. As a result, we are not as close as I would like us to be. I tried to be closer but I think deep down, he resents me for leaving him during his hard teenage years. I love my brother very very much and want him to be happy. Even though he has a daughter from an earlier relationship, Christine is the only one he has wanted to marry and who seems to make him very happy. I am currently very broke and cannot give him the kind of present I would like. My Dad is buying my airfare to the UK so that I can attend his wedding. My boyfriend Scott cannot attend because he is injured from a car accident and he and my brother are quite close. As a result, I want to give my brother and Christine (who I have yet to meet) a very special poem for them to remember how much I love them both. I love my brother obviously and even though I have not met Christine, I already love her for making him happy.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): I want it to be happy as I will read it to them on their wedding day and present them with it too.

Please choose which package you would prefer : Standard

Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts : Yes

What are the key messages you would like to send: Love for my brother and his new wife to be. That I will always be there for both of them despite the fact that I live 5000 miles away. THat I am happy that they have found each other and happy that they are getting married.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: My brother's nickname is "Binno" and I am the only one that he will let me use it. I tease him because of it. My brother started my boyfriend smoking again even after I threatened him. Luckily, my BF quit again. Happy moments are when we reminisce about our holidays together on the Norfolk Broads, when Mum would fall in the river and we would collapse in a heap laughing.

Binno and Christine

I'm currently very broke so I can't give you much,
so instead, I thought I'd share a few words from the heart,
because I want you and Christine to know I love you very much,
and to tell you that, where on Earth could I possibly start?

You see, Andrew, I moved to the USA from the UK,
if I recall, I was only 11 years old at the time,
in truth, I missed out a lot on your growing up,
and that's just one of the reasons for this rhyme.

Because as a result, we're not as close as I'd like to be,
I'm sorry for leaving you during those hard teenage years,
look, I'm truly sorry, I do love you very, very much,
so, once and for all, I'd like us to wipe away any salty tears.

Because at the end of the day, I just want you to be happy,
and I know that Christine, for you, will make the perfect wife,
and I just wanted to wish you every happiness,
I only want for you Jimmy Stewart's 'Wonderful Life'.

And I'm sorry that Scott couldn't be here today,
but as you know, he had quite an argument with a car,
just know that if our love for you were a distance,
well, it would reach beyond the furthest star.

And Christine, I know, up until now, we hadn't met,
so you may be wondering how I could possibly "love" you?
Well, the answer is: I know you make Andrew very happy,
so on behalf of the family, officially, I'd like to welcome you to the crew.

I just want you both to know that I'll always be there for you,
and I know that might be hard from 5000 miles away,
but I am so very happy that you've found each other,
and that one line still leaves so much to say:

Because, I for one, know that marriage is never easy,
and love needs to be fed and watered, nearly every hour,
so, whatever happens, never take each other for granted,
always treat your love like a tender, blossoming flower.

But Binno, thanks for getting my boyfriend to smoke again,
despite your best efforts, I still got him to quit,
but if I had to sum up our relationship in one line,
brother, Binno, I think this would be it:

Because we've always been brother and sister,
we came out of Mum's womb and we share the same vein,
and I'm sorry we didn't share that much time growing up,
but time's finite and you can't keep replaying it, again and again.

So, maybe we should focus on the times we did have,
the Norfolk Broads and how we laughed when Mum fell in,
but I've got a feeling we're going to share a lot more time together,
and I guess our future stories will need a lot more telling.

But in the meantime, just know that you have my undying love,
I think of Binno, my brother, and my chest swells with pride,
so I think I'll finish by asking you all to raise your glasses,
and the toast is: Binno and Christine, the groom and his beautiful bride.
