Poem to read at the Wedding of two ladies baby sister remembering her in her early years

What is your name : Tamara Powers

Who do you want the poem written for: Beckie Boulton

Why do you want the poem written: I would like my sister and I to be able to read it to our baby sister at her wedding reception.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): I would like it to be funny yet very sentimental and sincere

Please choose which package you would prefer : Economy

Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts : No

What are the key messages you would like to send: How happy we are for her and how proud we are of the woman she has become. How we realized how lucky George (her husband to be) found her, but over time realized that Beckie had lucked out just as much, because George and Beckie are equally good, honest, loving people.

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Coleen and I used to fight over who got to hold, carry, feed... Beckie. The day we went to Disneyland I won, and had Beckie in my lap in the Tiki Room. Beckie seemed to love the show, but midway through the show Beckie's diaper leaked onto my lap.Memories-Lynda left Beckie with Dad for just a few hours when she was little and Dad decided to go out in the back yard and weed, he put Beckie in a folding lawn chair and Beckie decided to stand in it. The chair folded up on her pinning down her arms and she fell face first, chipping her front tooth. An hour later dad and Beckie were inside watching TV and she fell and hit her head on the TV. When Lynda got home she thought Dad had beat Beckie :) and vowed to never leave Beckie alone with Dad again. :) Beckie used to follow Coleen and I everywhere we went when she was little. Beckie was facsinated my her own reflection in the mirror when she was little.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts : I am 43 and my sister is 44, Beckie is 29 (hence our baby sister)Coleen and I couldn't help being motherly to her because we were so much older, but before we knew it Beckie went from teenager to woman and we all fell into sisterly roles...I would like it to say somewhere about the special bonds that sisters have...We also have two half brothers (although we always call them our brothers) Tim and Michael that I would like to incorporate somehow. Tim is 48 and Michael is 47.I don't want this included in the poem but I have created a website for George and Beckie and maybe it would help if you could see what they look like...

Beckie's Diapers

Ladies and gentlemen,
can we have your attention please?
Because every now and then in life,
there's opportunity you should seize.

And that moment is upon us,
after all, this is Beckie's wedding day,
and we've got some thoughts on my mind,
yes, we do have some heartfelt words to say.

And we just wanted to say "we love you",
but in truth, we didn't know where to start,
so we thought we'd share a few feelings,
and give you some words, straight from the heart.

Firstly, we'd like to begin by looking skywards,
and thanking those in the heavens above,
because we know we've been blessed to have shared you,
we know that we've been blessed with your love.

To be honest, we thought George was lucky to have found you,
but over time, we realized Beckie had lucked out just as much,
because it is so obvious that you two were made for each other,
you can see it in your eyes, the way you move together, the way that you touch.

And you're both such good, honest, loving people,
you really deserve to reach your every dream,
because you two are just so perfect together,
it's so obvious that you were meant to be a team.

Actually, Beckie, we used to fight over who'd feed and bathe you,
even though your diaper leaked on my lap at Disneyland,
and after a chipped tooth and a banged head, Dad couldn't baby-sit,
but he was always there to lend us a helping hand.

Beckie used to follow us everywhere when she was little,
and she'd ask the mirror who was the fairest of them all?
But to be honest, we just couldn't help but be motherly,
but all of a sudden, Beckie was no longer so very small.

She went from being a teenager to becoming a woman,
and all that happened, it seems, in a flash of an eye,
but we wanted to try and explain what she means to us,
or at least, we wanted to give it our very try.

Because you see, sisters always share such special bonds,
but we also know that Tim and Michael also love you so,
and Beckie, we all just wanted to say "thank you",
it's been our absolute privilege to watch you grow.

And we can't believe that we used to change your diapers,
but that was okay, because we could play at being Mom,
just know that we're so very happy for you and your husband
we're also very proud of the woman who you've become.

So, we think we'll finish by saying: "we love you",
actually, we've never really said just how wonderful you are,
but if our love for you were a distance,
then it would be further than the furthest star.

We also wanted to say: "Happy Wedding Day",
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you both, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to your everlasting love, for evermore.
