Who do you want the poem written for: my sister Andrea
Why do you want the poem written : Well, I am her maid of honor for her wedding and I don't want to give aboring old speech so I want this to be a little more personal.
What are the key messages you would like to send : Basically thanks for being the best big sister ever. She has always been there for me..Including the past two years, I got pregnant at the age
19 and I have a 19 month old daughter..She comes to my house once a week to watch my daughter while I am at work..She has been there for me when me and my daughters father split up..She and her fiance Brian both just love my new boyfriend and accept him even though he isn't my daughter's father.. She is the greatest aunt anyone can ever ask for..Everytime they come over they always have something new they bought for my daughter Jayla....Also Brian is
the first guy she's ever dated to actually come around and be a big part of my family...we don't just see him on the holidays...
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share : Times like when she got caught smoking in her bedroom when she was in
middle school...she put a different lock on her bedroom door so I couldn't get in and take her clothes and shoes....When we were little we used to fight over who got to use the telephone and then we would end up beating each other up...We always used to make fun of Erica,Robin, and Jill because of there "tight" pants(me and my sister were into the baggy clothing) and now look at how we dress no more baggy stuff.....When she turned 21 and was so wasted she had to have her friend carry her in the house to bed, she couldn't even walk up the stairs..
Do you have any other comments or thoughts: Her wedding day is Saturday, April 9, 2005.

Boring Old Speech
| Look, I'm the maid of honor here, and I certainly don't want to preach, but I'm going to share a few thoughts, and I'll try not to make this a boring old speech. As you know, I fell pregnant at a tender age, and that could put any teenager under a strain, but in my hour of need, Andrea was there for me, and in my days of need, she was there, again and again. Every week, she watches my daughter while I work, and it was not easy, caring for a child on my own, but Andrea has always loved me so unconditionally, I'm very grateful for all the love that she's shown. Actually, Brian (Andrea's husband) has been a rock too, and they both just love, ++++, (my new boyfriend), and I just wanted to say thank you to you both, but there's a bit more (before these lines come to their end). Andrea is the greatest Aunt anyone could ask for, every time they come over, Jayla has something new, and to the new couple, I say "I love you both", (and I'm very proud of what you do). Brian is the first date to actually become a part of the family, and thankfully, we don't just see him on the holidays, it is quite apparent that he loves Andrea very much, and of course, I hope that's the way it always stays. I remember the time when Andrea got caught smoking, I also remember the time when she changed her lock, she got fed up with me always borrowing her shoes, and yes, I'll admit to borrowing the odd party frock. When we were little we used to fight over the telephone, and then we would end up beating up one another, we used to make fun of Erica, Robin and Jill, in those days, their tight pants would make us run for cover. Because then, we were into the baggy clothing, but now look at us, the "baggies" have gone, and Andrea, I just wanted to say thanks for being you, your love for me has always brightly shone. However, it wasn't shining so brightly on your birthday, if I recall (you won't remember), you were twenty one, so wasted, you had to be carried up the stairs by a friend, that night, certainly, your drinking days were done. And we've shared so many other wonderful memories, in truth, there's just too many to individually list, just know that each and everyone is simply precious, there's not one that I would have missed. Because Andrea is so very special to me, and she looks so beautiful with her married wings unfurled, and I just wanted to say "thanks for always being there for me", you're the best big sister in the whole wide world. I also wanted to wish you both "Bon Voyage" I guess that's really what these words are for, here's to you, Brian and Andrea, you're truly wonderful, and here's to your everlasting love, for evermore. |
