Gift from Husband to Wife on the birth of their son

What is your name : David Quinn

Who do you want the poem written for: Kelly Quinn

Why do you want the poem written: as a gift to my wonderful wife on the day our son is born (his name is Brendan).

What are the key messages you would like to send: To let her know she is the most wonderful wife in the world and she is truly my best friend. I want this to be from myself, but mostly from our newborn son telling her that she is the most wonderful and special mom in the world. We are both nervous about being parents for the first time, but we are very excited to be starting this together. I also want my wife to know our little Brendan is lucky to have her as his mommy. I also want this verse somewhere in the poem referring to Brendan: "We had each other, then we had you, now we have everything."

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable
moments that you would like to share: (1) my wife always refers to Brendan as a "stinker" because he keeps propping his foot up in her rib. I think this is funny and laugh at her. (2) This pregancy was a hard one as we tried for a year. Right before she found out she was pregnant, she was going to go through the dye test, etc. She took a pregancy test on Fri. at her doctor, but did not find out the results. On Sunday, she decided to buy a test and do it at home. She called me at work and told me she was pregnant! I could not believe it and told her to go buy another one and it also came out positive! She was to have her surgery on Wed, so on Monday she called her doctor and cancelled her surgery for Wed. At this time they also informed her
that her test from Fri. was negative. It apparently just showed
positive over the weekend. If she had not taken that test on Sunday she would have went through with her surgery and we would have never known that she was pregnant. She said that on Sunday she had a funny feeling and took the test at home. I thank God everyday and I guess her maternal instincts were already kicking in. (3) I am a big fanatic about deer hunting and one night while talking to Brendan before going to bed I was discussing taking him deer hunting and when I said "do you want to go with daddy and climb up in the treestand?" he promptly kicked my hand. We laughed for a long time over that one. (4) I am always saying there is not enough room in bed for my wife, 13 pillows, and 2 18 lb. cats (we have 2 cats Bullet and Scooter. They have been our "kids" for the last 3 years. (5) This is a new thing for me as I laugh every time I have to help my wife put her shoes and socks on.
(6) I can't wait to have a little deer hunter and a little UK fan. He
already has some camo bib overalls.(7) My wife and I always laugh about the comment she used to make (until her doctor corrected her.) She said it felt like Brendan was pulling on her urethra. A few weeks ago at her doctor appt. he informed her he was not pulling on her "urethra".(8) My wife and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas for our honeymoon. It
was a very memorable time for us and she is always wanting to go on
another one. (9) My wife weighed about 100 lbs. before she got pregnant and she is always talking about not being that size anymore. I always remind her that she is the most beautiful pregnant woman ever. (10) I hope we can be as good of parents as both of ours have been to us (my father passed away this past year, so Brendan's grandpa will never get to take him hunting and fishing. I remind my wife that I will just have to take him twice as often to make up for it.

Do you have any other comments or thoughts: (1) Brendans room is done in a Nautical theme and we both have been so excited getting it ready. We go in his room every night and imagine we are talking to him in his crib. (2) I am from kentucky and we are both UK Basketball fans (3) I am a very active person...always up moving about and doing things; definately not a couch potato. My wife is always saying "we are
having a "little Quinn" because he is a very active baby (I even felt him move very early at about 5 months). She is always saying he will be just like his daddy and she jokes that she is not looking forward to chasing him around. (4) Basically, I just want Kelly to know she is the most wonderful wife ever; she is my best friend and soulmate and I know she will be the best mother in the world! She is the best thing that happened to me and Brendan is the best thing that could happen to both of us.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): Happy, Sentimental, Loving, and Touching

Please choose which package you would prefer:Unique

Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts:Yes

Do you have any last comments or thoughts: I have tried to think of the perfect gift for the last 2 months and have found nothing. When I found this, I know she will be deeply touched.

The Two of Us

Mom, I'm not pulling on your "urethra",
because I do have a few heartfelt words to say,
and now is as good a time as any,
after all, it's not every day you have your birth-day.

I'd like to begin by saying thank you,
the last 9 months have been my best ever,
we've sort of got to know each other quite well,
after all we were sort of in this together.

And I know that Dad is very proud of you,
actually, he told me he loves you with all his heart,
and he wanted to say you're the best wife in the world,
but you know what he's like (he didn't know where to start).

So I think we should begin by looking upwards,
and thanking those in the heavens above,
because we both know we're blessed to have shared you,
we know that we've been blessed with your love.

I know you're both nervous about being parents,
but you'll find it'll come naturally and those worries will end,
and Dad already knows that he's so very lucky,
(because he's married his very best friend).

You had each other, then you had me,
and now together, we have everything,
and I'm so looking forward to our future,
and to the great times that it'll bring.

Look, I'm sorry I was a bit of a "stinker",
but it was a little cramped on the inside,
and just like Dad, I'm a bit of a fidget,
but I couldn't have picked a finer man - even if I'd tried.

And I know that I took my time in coming,
but all good things come to those who wait,
and that funny feeling you had on Sunday was me,
you see, we were already developing a family trait.

Because I know Dad likes deer hunting,
well in me, you've both found a little dear,
and yes Dad, I do want to climb up in the treestand,
that's why I kicked when Dad was near.

And now, maybe there'll be enough room in the bed,
and once again, maybe you can put on your own shoes,
and if I could decide on what I want to wear,
I think camo bib overalls is what I'd choose.

Do you know? I reckon we're going to cruise through this,
and who knows? Maybe we'll all cruise The Bahamas one day,
and I'm sure you'll get back to your 100lbs,
but honestly, it doesn't really matter what you weigh.

Because you were so beautiful when you were pregnant,
and now, you're the prettiest mother on planet Earth,
and I for one, know your true and honest value,
yes, I know exactly what a mother's love is really worth.

Grandpa popped in and said "Hi" by the way,
and to be honest, I don't think it was in a dream,
he knows that you'll both look after me,
and he says he likes my room and the nautical theme.

Dad says you're the most wonderful wife ever,
and that he loves you with all his heart and soul,
and now that we're together, he feels complete,
yes, it's the two of us that make him completely whole.

And we just wanted to say Happy New Mother's Day,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, Kelly, Mom, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to our everlasting love, for evermore.
