50th Wedding Anniversary gift to parents/grandarents

What is your name : Deanna J Loudis

Who do you want the poem written for: Paul Dean and LaReta Holland

Why do you want the poem written: 50th Wedding Anniversary (April 30)

What are the key messages you would like to send: Congratulations;
Shown a lot of love for each other as well as for their two daughters
(Deanna and Alicia), 1 grandaughter (Amanda) and 1 grandson (Brian);
Amanda and Brian call them "Pa-Pa" and "Na-Not"; how much they both love God, their church family and studying the Bible; Thankful for their many prayers together--for family and friends who are in need of prayers to help them (family and friends) in coping with daily routines, hard times, illnesses and they remember to give thanks
for answered prayers; Glad we have had so many times to be able to say "I love you" to each other even as we have grown older (These thoughts are in no particular order, Deanna)

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable
moments that you would like to share: Camping trips at Mill Creek on Table Rock Lake, where skunks were uninvited guests. Attending Presley's Mountain Music Jubilee and Mom would laugh at Sid no matter how many times she had seen the show. The birth of their two grandchildren -- Amanda is now 21 and Brian is now 18. Family fishing trips to Bridgeport Resort and even though Dad acted like he wanted to catch the biggest and most, he was really happy when he could see his "kids" haul in a big one (and perch DO NOT count.) And Mom would give up her fishing time to make sure we were very well fed after a full day of fishing. They also have attended so many dance watch nights, dance recitals, school plays and concerts, basketball games, soccer matches, baseball games and who could forget Amanda's softball career. They always support both Amanda and Brian. The corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions out of "the garden" are still the best to this day and they don't mind letting us know about it, but of course we are more than happy to help them eat the garden grown goodies. Dad's retirement party after 45 years at Kraft Foods. They love watching any old western movie no matter how many times they have seen it before. Mom is particularly fond of John Wayne.

Do you have any other comments or thoughts: We also want to remember their parents: Dale and Ruby Holland Walt and Opal Lay--and after LaReta's mother passed away during the birth of her baby sister, Mom and Uncle Earl Mayfield were very important to her and she loved them very much.

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.):happy, with a touch of humor

Please choose which package you would prefer :Deluxe

Would you like a copy of the handwritten drafts: Yes

Do you have any last comments or thoughts: (Note to author) It is really hard to fit 50 years of memories into one poem, of that I am certain. And really hard for a daughter to pick important memories for her mom and dad. But I am so excited to have found your website and so thankful that I have found someone to help me write the words that are in my heart. Deanna

Answered Prayers

Hello, our wonderful parents,
these words are just for you,
because we're proud of who you are,
and we're very proud of what you do.

And we just wanted to say "we love you",
but in truth, we didn't know where to start,
so we thought we'd share a few feelings,
and give you some words, straight from the heart:

Firstly, we'd like to begin by looking skywards,
and thanking those in the heavens above,
because we know we've been blessed to have shared you,
we know that we've been blessed with your love.

You've shown a lot to each other and to your daughters,
and my! Look how your mighty oak has grown,
because Amanda and Brian love their 'Pa-Pa' and 'Na-Not',
in truth, we're all very grateful for the love that you've shown.

Amanda is now 21 and Brian is now 18,
but it seems like only yesterday, the day of their birth,
but ever since, you've loved them both so unconditionally,
you've proved just what a grandparent's love is really worth.
We're so glad we've been able to say "I love you",
even as we've grown older we still say it so many times,
it's because you've created a wonderful, loving family,
you are the ones that have put the reasons in our rhymes.

And we've shared so many wonderful memories,
in truth, there's just too many to individually list,
just know that each and every one is simply precious,
there's not one that we would have missed.

We remember the camping trips at Mill Creek,
where skunks were always the uninvited guest,
and we'd attend the Presley's Mountain Music jubilee,
and Mom would laugh at Sid and the parts she liked the best.

We'll never forget the family fishing trips to Bridgeport Resort
and Dad acting like he wanted to catch the biggest and the most,
but he was really happy when we hauled in a big one (Perch don't count),
and Mom made sure we were well fed (as in the evening, we'd naturally boast).

You have also have attended so many dance watch nights,
dance recitals, school plays and concerts and many a basketball game,
let's not forget the soccer, baseball and of course, Amanda's softball,
if you weren't there, it just never felt the same.

We won't mention the corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and onions,
out of "the garden", still the best (and you don't mind letting us know),
but of course, we're more than happy to help you eat them
because it's not only fine children you know how to grow.

Mind you, Dad worked at his Kraft for 45 years,
and at his retirement party, he received many an accolade,
all his colleagues just wanted to thank him,
but we too wanted to thank him for the role that he's played.

Now you both love watching your old westerns,
we know that Mom is particularly fond of John Wayne,
and it doesn't matter how many times you've seen them before,
if it's a western, you'll watch them again and again.

I'm sure that Dale, Ruby Walt and Opal watch them too,
because their spirit lives on, inside of us all, burning bright,
and we just wanted to thank you both for being 'you',
your love has been our inspiration, our light.

And although we say "I love you" often enough,
we've never really expressed just how wonderful you are,
but if our love for you were a distance,
then it would be further than the furthest star.

You both love God, your church family and studying the bible,
and the good book has so very often, shown you the way,
and we're thankful for your many prayers together,
you've helped so many (and you've always known just what to say).

You also give thanks for the many answered prayers,
but we think you've answered our prayers right back,
because we know we couldn't have chosen finer parents,
compassion and kindness are qualities you've never lacked.

And we just wanted to say Happy 50th Anniversary,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, Mom and Dad, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to at least another fifty more.
