To his Wife on their 1st (paper) wedding anniversary, a poem saying how different they are, but it works, he loves many things about her especially her way with animals

What is your name : Jason Charron

Who do you want the poem written for: My wife Heather

Why do you want the poem written: our 1st anniversary, the paper anniversary. I wrote her a poem on our 1st valentine's day date. I don't know how I was able to do it, I woke up in the middle of the night a it basically wrote itself. I am not confident I could do it again...

What are the key messages you would like to send: I know I have my quirks, I know we are a bit different. She's very responsible, I'm not so much. I'm laid back, and she's sort of up tight nervous. I'm a little unrealistic with my thoughts and directions, she's down to earth fringing on the pessimistic. But we work, there is a balance. She doesn't really know it but having her in my life improves it, and I hope I have the same effect...

Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: I wish my proposal went better. I rented a house (timeshare) in Key West. I have been there many many times with good friends. The place is very sentimental. I took her there for a weeks vacation and was sick the whole time. My proposal was a very short, out of time, by the pool, nothing special question pop. She needs more of a romantic experience..
.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts: There are alot of things I love about her. One thing really stands out to me. She is like the mother Theresa of animals. She loves animals. Our 2 cats (Mary and Sherb) are the luckiest, most loved cats in the world, and our puppy (Stevie) is like a son. They love her back just as much. But it goes further than that. The squirrles in our neighborhood come up to her and let her pet them. When we go on a trip, she makes friends with whatever wild animal is near. We went to have our pics taken with a tiger (Tessa) on our honeymoon in Aruba, then horseback riding on the beaches, it was one of the best times of her life. She has a special thing with animals...

What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): romantic but not too sappy

One More Question

I remember writing you a poem once before,
if I recall, it was our very first Valentine's date,
I woke up in the middle of the night,
and put pen to paper about my soul mate.

Now, getting your thoughts down is never easy,
there's been many a writer who's known the block,
but I wanted to share my feelings with you,
and I don't think too many will come as a shock.

Because we've shared a truly wonderful year,
looking back, it's magnificent to behold,
and I'm so looking forward to our future,
to our future stories, as yet unwritten and untold.

Look, I know that I have my quirks,
and we are quite different, like an opposite pole,
but I am simply magnetized by you,
Heather, I love you with all my heart and my soul.

You're responsible, sort of uptight and nervous,
whereas I'm quite laid back, you understand,
I know I'm a little unrealistic with my direction,
but at least I'm willing to try some foreign land.

You are so down to earth, you fringe on pessimism,
but despite all this, we get along fine,
and I'm just so proud that you're my wife,
I'm just so proud that I can call you "mine".

And I know I don't tell you often enough,
I never really say just how wonderful you are,
but if my love for you were a distance,
then it would be further than the furthest star.

You see, we work, there is a balance,
having you in my life makes me a better man,
and I hope that I have the same effect on you,
after all, I'm doing the very best that I can.

But sadly, I wished my proposal had gone better,
it was too short, out of time, by the pool,
a nothing special question, pop, there's the answer,
and I'm left feeling happy but rather a fool.

I know that you need a more romantic experience,
and I guess that will come in it's own good time,
because there are so many things I love about you,
after all, you are the reason in my rhyme.

You are the Mother Theresa to animals,
Mary and Sherb are the luckiest cats on this Earth,
Stevie is like a son, they're all so loved,
they too, know exactly what your love is truly worth.

But it goes a lot further than cats and dog,
because you make friends with any animal that is near,
you pet squirrels, tame tigers, ride wild horses,
these are the moments you really hold dear.

And your future will always include animals,
I think this is quite a clear picture in my mind,
just know that I'm so happy that I can share you,
a treasure like you is rare and so hard to find.

And I know I disappointed you by the pool,
I'm sorry, it's not the way it was meant to be,
so now, I need to ask you one more question,
please wait a sec whilst I get down on bended knee.

Heather, would you please give me the great honor,
give me the great honor of sharing your life,
because I'm even more certain after our first year,
Heather, would you, forever, please be my wife?

And I guess I'd better say Happy First Anniversary,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you Heather, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to our everlasting love, for evermore.
