What is your name : Laura Bailey
Who do you want the poem written for: My parents, Ed and Glenda
Why do you want the poem written: Their 50th Wedding Anniversary
What are the key messages you would like to send: Gratitude for their providing a loving, supportive home to their four children (2 daughters and 2 sons); admiration for their being examples of not only romantic love (they still hold hands, and kiss & hug in front of us all), but also Christian love; loving advice (solicited and unsolicited); unconditional love
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: Mom & Dad met at Saratoga High School. Dad was a career pilot in the US Air Force (B-52s) from 1952 until 1973. Mom was a stay-at-home mother. Their wedding day is April 14, 1954; that is the same day Dad received his wings from the USAF and got his officer's commission. His major military stations (in chronological order) were called March (5 years; 2 daughters born there), Minot (5 years; 1 son born there); Castle (5 years 1 son born there); and Kincheloe (2 years; also known as "The Kinch). Retired to Oregon. Great memories of water-skiing (and hauling the ski boat all over the country), family camping trips, family-owned cabin (always just known as "The Cabin"), Dad built their retirement dream home, Dad coached both sons' Little League teams.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts: 4 children; 3 children-in-law; 6 grand children & step-grand children (plus a couple of in-laws); starting a next generation of great-grand children (all step- at this point).
What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): Would like it to be humorous, but not ridiculous. We all realize, more and more, what a fabulous childhood our parents gifted us with.

| Mum and Dad met at Saratoga High School, Dad was a career pilot and flew the 52?s, Mum was a stay-at-home mother, but that?s the life she?d always choose. Because she?s such a wonderful and loving mother, and I know Dad feels he?s been truly blessed and of all the parents in this world we all know that we?ve got the best. You had four wonderful children along the way, and my! Look how the branches have really spread, and the grandchildren really love you so, so that leaves a few words left to be said: And April 14th is such a special day it?s a day of wings, when people get to soar, and we just wanted to say, ?we love you? I guess that?s really what these words are for. March, Minot, Castle and the Kinch, stations where our lives started out and ever since you?ve taught us so much you?ve taught us what life?s all about. We?ve great memories of water-skiing, (and we?d always have the ski-boat in tow) family camping trips, time at ?The Cabin?, and as we get older there?s things we?ve started to know. You see we probably never appreciated it at the time, and we?ve realised this more and more as we?ve grown, but you gave us a simply fabulous childhood, we?re grateful for all the love that you?ve shown. Thanks for providing a loving and supportive home, you?ve been great examples of a romantic love, but you?ve also given us some great advice and you?ve taught us to believe in the heavens above. You see, you?ve always been there for us, even before we had to breathe, and ever since, you?ve delivered, you?ve made ours a dream to believe. And we just wanted to say thank you, thanks for doing what you do, we?re very proud of who we are, who you are, and we just wanted to say ?we love you?. |
