What is your name : Kandis Weiler
Who do you want the poem written for: My Parents
Why do you want the poem written: It will be their 30th anniversary on December 4, 2004
What are the key messages you would like to send: How amazing and unselfish they are to everyone around them and how good they have been to me, my brother and sister (Thaddeus and Anastasia). They have always been supportive of all of us. They are so wise and their motto is always "health and family first" That is what they have done all of these years. They have always worked hard and accomplished many things especially since my father came to the US with nothing to begin with and now he has everything, from a successful company that he built to a family that is getting larger by the minute and 3 grandchildren already (by me Kandis) Life is beautiful for them and that is what I want to show the most.
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: They met in Iran on a blind date, two totally opposite people. By this I mean that my father is from Korea and my mother is from Louisiana, but they also complement each other. Things were a little rough in the beginning since they come from two different cultures and had to adapt to each other. My mother didn't like my father too much when they first met since she thought he was a little arrogant, but he probably knew at that time that he wanted to be with her for the rest of his life so he was very persistant in being with her. Eventually she realized that this is the man that she would want to be with forever even though she was only 17. Needless to say, they got married about 3 months later and have been together since. I'll never forget all the times that we traveled around the world and the times that I would go to work with my father no matter how late or early it was so that we could hang out since he had so little time at home, but no matter what he always focused on family no matter how busy he was. As for my mother, she is so beautiful and her smile lights up an entire room, not to mention her laughter which I can hear for miles because it is so unique and wonderful.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts: Basically, these are the most wonderful parents any child could ask for. They have been through so many ups and downs and I wish I could provide more info but their is so much that I want to put in there. If you have any suggestions please let me know. They are going to have a huge party for their anniversary and I would like to read this in front of them and everyone that is there.
What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): happy, I want everyone to feel the way I do about them
Please choose which package you would prefer:Unique
Do you have any last comments or thoughts: I just want this to be memorable, sweet and bring a few tears to everyones eyes since this is such a big day. Writing and poetry is not a forte of mine and I hope that you can help me express my feelings through your poetry. Thank you
| You first met in Iran, on a blind date, two opposite people with an opposite pole, but you both shared a little magnetism, you realized you needed the other to make one whole. Now, there's not many Korean Louisianan relationships, and that led to some difficulty in the early times, it took a while to explore your different cultures, it took a while for you to find the reason in your rhymes. Mother didn't like father too much when they first met, she thought he was a little arrogant and that put her off, but he probably already knew that this was "the one", but if he'd asked for a hand he would have just got a scoff. But, he was very persistent and determined, I think he wore Mom down, hour by hour, then eventually she too realized this is "the one", and their love blossomed into a beautiful flower. She was only 17 but 3 months later they were married, and "I do" were some of the finest words you've ever said, and now, there's been much water under your bridge, can't believe it's been 30 years since you were wed. "Health and firmly first", that's been your motto along the way, and we've got some thoughts on my mind, yes, there's a few heartfelt words left to say: Firstly, we'd just like to say "thank you" we'd like to thank you both for your unconditional love, we know we've been blessed to have as parents, in truth, we've been blessed by the heavens above. And we also wanted to say "we love you", but quite obviously, we didn't know where to start, so we thought we'd share a few feelings, and give you some words, they're straight from the heart. You've been so amazing and so unselfish, and that's just how you've lived all your life, and now standing here before us, there's an epitome, as you're the perfect example of a husband and wife. You've been so good to us three children, and you even gave each of us a memorable name, Kandis, Thaddeus and Anastasia, we all say thanks, but if it's ok, we'll pick our own the next time, all the same. Seriously, you have always been so supportive of us, and it's because of your support, we've simply flew, and you two are so very smart, so very wise, but modestly, this is something you always knew. Because you've always worked hard and accomplished, especially since my father came to the United States, he came to the US with nothing and now look at them, they've both steered and mastered the wind of fates. From a successful company to a growing family, and my! Just look how the family's grown, and I know I speak for all of us here, when I say; we're very grateful for all the love that you've shown. And you've three grandchildren already, and I reckon there's many more to come along, and I know that life is beautiful for you both, but truly, you're the words and music in our song. I'll never forget all the times we traveled the world, and I'd go to work with my father, just to hang out, you taught me about determination and how to get on, but you also taught me what love is all about. As for my mother, she is so beautiful, and her love has been my inspiration, my light, her unique and wonderful laughter I can hear for miles, and I've never known a smile even half as bright. Basically, we have two simply wonderful parents, and throughout our lives, they've held us to their chest, and I know that we're very fortunate indeed, because of all the parents in this world, we've the very best. I know that life hasn't always been easy, but life is rarely a rose filled dream, but through it all you've stuck together, you've proved to the world that you truly are a team. We all just wanted to say "thank you", we've never really said just how wonderful you are, but if my love for you were a distance, then it would be further than the furthest star. We just wanted to ay Happy 30th Anniversary, I guess that's really what these words are for, hers' to you, Mom and Dad, you're truly wonderful, and here's to counting to one, for evermore. |
