A mother's poem to a son who is leaving home to go into the army, she say's they will miss him greatly but support what he wants to do as he wanted to be "an army guy" since childhood

Who do you want the poem written for: my son Michael
Why do you want the poem written: Michael is leaving Jan. 3rd for the army. I want to let him know we are going to miss him very much but we support him in what he is doing and hope the best for him.
What are the key messages you would like to send: We will miss Michael We support him We have great faith that he will work hard to reach his goal
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share When Michael was little and asked what he wanted to be when he was older, he would tell us he is going to be "an army guy" He loved to play with his military toys with friend Russ when he was young. They would put old toy figures outside and take their BB gun and shoot them. They would act out the playing like they were these grown military men shooting the bad guy.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts: Everyone whoever meets Mike likes him alot. He is a very friendly, happy guy. He was greatly liked by his fellow football players in high school
What style of poem would you prefer (happy, sad, romantic etc.): I would like it to be inspirational to him so he understands how we feel about him. To give back what he gave to us.

Army Guy
| Hello, our wonderful Michael, these words are just for you, because we're proud of who you are, and we're very proud of what you do. And we just wanted to say "we love you", but in truth, we didn't know where to start, so we thought we'd share a few feelings, and give you some words, straight from the heart. Firstly, we'll begin by looking skywards, and thanking those in the heavens above, because we know we've been blessed to have shared you, we know that we've been blessed with your love. Just know that we'll miss you very much, but we support you and your ultimate goal, just know that we also love you very much, in truth, we love you with all our hearts and soul. We sincerely hope for the very best for you, and we wish for you the very best of luck, just remember that if you see trouble coming, just remember that we love you (and to duck). We have great faith that you will work very hard, because to achieve any goal there's always a terrific climb, but the view from the top is so much better, it's like when you find the reason in your rhyme. You've always said you wanted to be an "army guy", and that was when you and Russ were just boys, you'd take out your BB gun and shoot old toy figures, you've always been happiest playing with your military toys. So now the toys have gone and you're all grown up, and to shoot the bad guys, you wont have to pretend, just know that we're all very proud of you, but there's more (before these lines have their end). Because everyone who meets you, likes you a lot, you're one of the friendliest, happiest guys on planet Earth, your fellow football players liked you enormously, because they too, knew your true and honest worth. And we just wanted to give you something back, because you've been giving to us all of our lives, and we just want a son who's proud of who he is, and one that, importantly, unflinchingly, survives. Because we do love you so very much, we've never really said just how wonderful you are, but if our love for you were a distance, then it would be further than the furthest star. Just know that you will always be our hero, I guess that's really what these words are for, here's to you, Michael, you're truly wonderful, and here's to our everlasting love, for evermore. |
