A dedication poem to a sister who died, to be read out at her sons wedding, the bride is so like the mother in her likes, dislikes and personality that they think the mother had a hand in it from above.
What is your name : Wendy Wallace
Who do you want the poem written for: my nephew , Willy and his fianc?
Why do you want the poem written: for Willy's wedding, His mother passed away Jan. 11th 2003 and I was asked to put together a dedication or poem or something to honor his mother, I take this very seriously and know there is no way I can put into words how much Mary meant to all of us and how sadly she will be missed on her son's special day.
What are the key messages you would like to send: My sister, Willy's mother was diagnosed with cancer when she was 17 and when she found out she was pregnant the doctors didn't believe she should carry him to term in fear of her own life, but Mary was strong and determined to bring little willy into this world and she did, thru the years of his childhood til he was 23 she fought cancer til her body couldn't fight no more, her last year she crocheted baby blankets for her future grandbaby's I believe she knew her time was ending here. She never got to meet Willy's fiance and Willy managed to find a very special girl that was quite similar to his mother in likes and dislikes and personality I sometimes wonder if Mary had a hand in this from above, I have no doubt Mary would of welcomed Anna with open arms, Willy's dad and mom had a very loving strong relationship, that went thru many obstacles that most people wouldn't of been able to make it thru. Willy and his mom were very close and she loved him dearly and I know that Mary not being at his wedding is going to be very heartbreaking and I'm hoping you can somehow put her there in spirit and in memory. She was a wonderful sister more like a second mother to all of us and was always there for everyone no matter how sick she was and I'm hoping we can honor her the way she deserves. She was my best friend and want to help make her son and his fiance day special.
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: mary was a comedian and this rubbed off on lil willy they could make us laugh. Mary and Willy and Lil willy, you see to be able to tell the son and dad apart we all got into the habit of calling the dad big willy and the son lil willy and in reality lil willy is bigger then his dad, they all loved to take trips to the ocean. Lil willy hardly gave mary any problems as a teen he decided to get a little wild when he got out of school instead making everyone laugh cuz he was a late bloomer, and he always ended up telling his mom everything cuz she wasn't just his mother she was his friend, I know were proud of lil willy and I know she would be so proud of how he has turned into kind, thoughtful compassionate man .lil willy always made his mother nervous when he got behind the wheel of a car cuz he's was so accident prone, one time having to explain to his mom how he totaled his front end because he and his 7 year old cousin was singing and didn't see the car ahead of him stop. Mary loved to pinch ears, and lil willy loves to do the same, their being affectionate when they are doing it but sometimes did it a lil to hard but they could resist the temptation .
Do you have any other comments or thoughts: I can't think of anything else right now this is very emotional for me.

A Few Words from Mary
| Hello, my wonderful Willy, I?m sorry I?m not there today, but that doesn?t mean that I don?t love you, that doesn?t mean I still can?t have my say. Firstly, I?d like to congratulate you, you?ve chosen well, you?ve chosen love, and I know you couldn?t have picked finer, believe me, you?ve been blessed by the heavens above. I?m sorry I had to leave Earth so early, but everyone only gets their allotted time, and in the time you do have, you have to make the most of it, no matter what, you have to get your words to rhyme. And you were my rhyme and my reason, doctors thought I?d never make it through, but despite the cancer, I was strong and determined, and yes, I?ve always been so proud of you. And I battled my dragon for as long as I could, but in the end, my soul was becoming scarred, and I?m truly sorry that I left when I did, believe me, I did try so very hard. But I know my baby blankets will go to good use, and they?ll be treasured for many years to come, and I know your little stars will be well loved, when the time is right, they?ll find their Dad and Mom. And please look after Big Willy for me, I do miss him, with all my heart and soul, because I know that together, we were complete, you are the ones that made me completely whole. I also know that Wendy misses me so, but it?s OK, I?m still there, in all your hearts, and I just wanted to wish you both well, I want only for you the very best of starts. And Anna is such a beautiful person, I know you?ll be very happy as husband and wife, I know your love will grow and grow, I know you?re going to live a beautiful life. Because you?ve always been a beautiful person, although you are known to be a little accident prone, but the next time you?re singing in your car, just realize, you won?t be singing all alone. Because Willy, I?ll always be with you, and I?ll look out for you in the coming years, and if I can give you one last piece of advice, please go gentle when you pinch people?s ears. And I wanted to leave you with a smile, I wanted to see laughter, not tears, on your face, because, I?m still here, sitting by the ocean, and believe me, this is a truly wonderful place. |
