It was love at first sight across a crowded bar, it started as a distant relationship as they were separated by miles but now they are celebrating their anniversary.
A Hard Act
| Do you remember the balcony ? With my head stuck between the rails ? Just thinking of it makes me smile. Go on, try it ! It never fails ! And this is just one happy memory, I have so many that I can't recall, because when I'm with you, life's a party, in fact - it's a ball ! And when you asked to marry me, you read "Guess how much I love you", and then you sang me your song, it was such a romantic thing to do. And that is a hard act to follow, it was a genuine unrepeatable feat, the kind thoughts were so special, it's something that I couldn't possibly beat. But what the hell ? I can hear the optimist cry, I'll give it one good go, I'll give it my very best try. I often wondered how it would be, how I would meet my Mister Right, but I never imagined it as it was, I didn't believe in love at first sight. When I saw you I could see forever, because I could see that far, I could see our very own future, across that crowded bar. And it started as a distant relationship, we were many miles apart, we were separated by geography, but we were joined together at the heart. And now we are here, on this our special day, and I love you more than life itself, that's all I wanted to say. And that you are a great teacher, you've taught me what love is for, and I will love you today and tomorrow, and I know that I'll love you for evermore. |
