Why do you want the poem written: Our first wedding anniversary- July 26th
What are the key messages you would like to send: Our first meeting- he asked me to dance and I said "no"- he was persistant and finally I said yes. Afterwards he asked me for my number I gave it to him- he remembered it off the top of his head and called me the next day to ask me if he could cook dinner for me. Over the next week I kept cancelling due to being nervous and other commitments. Finally I agreed to a Friday night at an Italian restaurant for dinner. At the last minute- I got scared and called leaving a message on his machine cancelling. Apparently he was at the restaurant waiting for me. Soon after I left the message I headed out to a club to see my friends play in a band. As I was walking down the street I heard someone call my name- I looked back but the man too far back so I kept walking- my name was called again so I stopped. It was him! He gave up waiting and decided to head home. I explained and invited him out with us and ever since then we have been together which was six years ago.
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: After only eight months of dating he accepted a position in a city more then fifteen hours away. I didn't know whether or not this was the end of us and I was in college and was unsure whether or not I wanted to leave everyone close to me. It took me a entire summer to realize I wanted to go be with him. I did move with him and that was the beginning or many happy and sad times. On our honeymoon we went parasailing, I was so scared but he put his hands on my shoulders and that made me feel comfortable and safe- it one of the most accelerating experiences together. Before we got married we went to a Karoke bar in Toronto with a friend. We couldn't decide on our first dance song. He got up and sung Lady in Red to me- that was a song we were considering. He sung it very well and it brought me to tears. We did not choose that song but I will always remember it.
Do you have any other comments or thoughts: We have been through a lot of ups and downs two big moves the last being from Canada to the United States but because of our friendship and love we managed to deal with a lot of stress and life changes.Our meeting was fate.

Do you have any last comments or thoughts: I want the poem to embrace our first meeting and how we grew up together and became adults. Everything we have done together has made a great impact on our life today. Let me know if you need more information- It is difficult to come up with six years of a relationship all at once.
First meeting
| The first time we met you asked me to dance, and I quite eloquently said: "No", you were persistent and I finally said: "yes", and from that moment we started to grow. You remembered my number off the top of your head, but our dinner date I kept having to postpone, finally, I agreed to an Italian on a Friday night, and then at the last minute, left a message on your 'phone. But destiny had other plans for us, as we met that night, I was walking down the street, you called my name once, then called it twice, and ever since, I've been swept off my feet. After only eight months of dating, and distance could have drove us apart, but it took me one whole summer to realize, to realize that we're joined at the heart. I remember the Karaoke bar in Toronto, we couldn't decide on our first dance song, you got up and sang "Lady In Red", I was in tears the whole song long. Our wedding day was simply perfect, the atmosphere and our love was 100 per cent, and when the time came to say "I do", I knew exactly what those words really meant. On our honeymoon we went parasailing, I was so scared but you comforted me, your hands on my shoulders made me feel safe, you've always made my world a better place to be. I just wanted you to feel special, to you, I just wanted to express my love, because I know I've been blessed to have met you, I know that I've been blessed by the heavens above. You make me feel so very happy, I've felt that way since we've been together, and I know that's a feeling that'll continue on, actually, it's one that'll last forever and ever. I know we've had our falling outs, but life is never a rose filled dream, but through it all, we've come together, we've proved to the world, we truly are a team. Because "I do" love you so very much, in truth, I love you with all my heart, my very soul, and you are the one that makes me complete, you are the one that makes me completely whole. And there's nothing that makes me happier, than seeing you smile and laugh out loud, I think to myself "there's my husband", my chest swells and I feel so very proud. Now, I know we've been through a lot together, and we've had to move along the way, but our love and friendship has kept us together, now I do have just one last thing to say: From that first meeting we've grown together, and I know that together, we'll gladly get old, I'm so looking forward to our future, to our future stories, as yet unwritten and untold. And I just wanted to say Happy First Anniversary, I guess that's really what these words are for, here's to you John, you're simply wonderful, and here's to our everlasting love, for evermore. |
