Silent Heartache
| Sometimes death is sudden, unexpected, never see it until it comes along, and other times it's predictable, and that too, seems somehow wrong. But going is just like starting, only that its in reverse, and cancer takes no prisoners, it's our silent heartache, our curse. Your sister's fought her battles too, I think that's once, twice and thrice. They say that bad luck comes in threes, but maybe it's just the luck of the dice. And (as we know), life can be cruelly short, so you've got to give it your very best shot, because fate can be a fickle friend, and sometimes life's a ballot (and sometimes not). Family has been the centre of our existence, and now it's been cruelly torn apart, but the "survivors" will bond even closer, joined together by the same aches in their heart. Because now Kirk has gone too, gone to be with his mother's soul, and now I'll never be complete again, I'll never feel completely whole. Because I loved him with all my heart, and he loved his life and his family too, and now it's hard knowing what to say, even harder to know just what to do. He had an excellent sense of humor, always good for a practical joke, sometimes a slob, dedicated to his work, all in all - a pretty good bloke. And now we're left with our memories, and I guess they'll have to do for a while, but if we just look back and remember Kirk, I'm sure that we'll manage a smile. Remember the downed Cessna plane? Kirk thought it could do with a tow, but the owner had other things in mind, and the Police certainly told him where to go. Then there was the car in the brook on Xmas Eve, "I have enough problems of my own". Immortal words that'll last forever, (he didn't know his sister was accident prone :) Kirk was a Gemini, a magical mixture of tragedy and life, he was professional, he could be silent, but he saved the best for his children and his wife. And we may not have been close as children, but as adults we found out what love is for, and just know that we love you now and always, Kirk, you'll be in our aching hearts for evermore. |
