Mum's poem to her baby son expressing her love and feelings, for him to read when he grows up
What is your name : Amanda Fine
Who do you want the poem written for: My Son, Mathew - he is currently 21 months old
Why do you want the poem written: I want a way to express my feelings for him now, that he will have to read when he is growing up. I feel that I want to capture my feelings for my wonderful baby while I am feeling them instead of trying to remember the wonderful times when he is grown up!
What are the key messages you would like to send: He is my everything. He is a true blessing from the Lord, he enriches my life everyday through good times and bad. Even though his father and I are no longer married, we still both love him more than anything and he will always be our number one priority. There will never be a time that I will be too busy for him - he can come to me with anything always. He is so special and makes me smile, laugh, and cry all at the same time. I will never forget how he will lift his head as he has fallen to sleep on my shoulder and give his mommy a kiss. He is my buddy and my reason for wanting to be the best person I can be. My plan in life is to set the best example I can so that he will grow up to love and respect people. Always care about people's feelings, and always try his best to do what is right. We try to live by the golden rule, do unto others as you would have done unto you. I know that each and everything I do will impact his life and I want him to know that I am putting 200% of my heart and soul into being the best mother I can be to him. He is an outgoing, loving little boy that doesn't meet a stranger. He loves his Mommy, Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa sooo much. We have had some pretty sad hurtles to overcome since his Dad asked for a divorce the day before his 1st birthday. Although I have done my best to hide my sadness from him, it breaks my heart to know that he has seen his mommy sad and crying. If he sees me cry he comes to me and hugs me and it just melts my heart. He truly was the blessing that got me through my divorce. I had to do my best to stay as strong as I could for him. Now he and I are our own team and I plan to make his life the happiest one possible - just because we are not a "normal" family doesn't mean there is or ever will be any less love from his Mommy.
Do you have any funny, sad, happy, embarrassing or otherwise memorable moments that you would like to share: He loves the outdoors, he would sleep out there if I would let him. He is always getting his car and taking it to the front door and asking to take a walk. We really enjoy exploring the outdoors together. He has been sick a lot also, he has had a couple of surgeries, tubes and his adenoids removed and he had been such a trooper. I would also like to mention something about the day he was born and how it truly was the happiest day of my life. When he came out and they laid him on my chest, he opened his big blue eyes and looked right into his Mommy's eyes - That moment he stole my heart and would forever be Mommy's little boy. He was absolutely beautiful. We had some rough times with a bit of Jaundice, and some nursing problems, but he hung in there and is now a big strong, growing boy that loves to run and jump!
Do you have any other comments or thoughts: I want him to have this to read when he is grown up to know just how much his Mommy has always loved him and how proud I am of the little boy he is, and the wonderful man he will become.

| Hello, my wonderful Matthew, these words are just for you, because I'm proud of who you are, and I'm very proud of what you do. And I just wanted to say "I love you", but in truth, I didn't know where to start, so I thought I'd share a few feelings, and give you some words, straight from the heart. Firstly, I'd like to begin by looking skywards, and thanking those in the heavens above, because I know I've been blessed to have shared you, I know that I've been blessed with your love. And I know you're not quite old enough to read this, but I know that you will, in the years to come, just know that I'm so very proud of you, Matthew, you've made me one very proud Mom. Through the good times and the bad times, you've enriched my life on just every single day, and just know that I'll always be there for you, no matter what, together, we will find a way. You are my everything, simply my all, and you've been a true blessing from the Lord, and it's because of you I want to be a better "me", it's because of you I have literally soared. Sadly, your Daddy and I are no longer together, but we both love you so, our beautiful son, and you will always be our utmost priority, yes, in our lives, you will always be number one. There'll never be a time when I'm too busy for you, and no matter what, I'll always make the time, because you're so special, you make me smile, you have always put the reason in my rhyme. My plan in life is to set you a good example, I want you to try your best to do what is right, and I'll put 200% of my heart and soul into you, I am going to use all of my Almighty might. Because I want to be the best mother possible, and I want to put behind us all that has gone before, because you stole my heart on the day that you were born, and it's something that you will always have, for evermore. |
