I know we haven't spent that much time together,
but absence only makes this heart grow fonder,
and from the very first day, I knew you were simply wonderful,
I knew then, I no longer wanted to wander.
I also know that you're a very thoughtful and loving person,
Mom says she's never known anyone even half as kind,
even though you work so very hard every single day,
you come home and mom's the first thing on your mind.
And (NAME) is already our squealing little baby,
he too gets excited when we have our cuddle time,
but despite us living in this crappy, old cheap apartment,
we're still finding the reason in our rhyme.
Although my first husband was a very good man,
and truly, we had many good times together,
but I know I've never felt this way before,
because what we share will last forever and ever.
Because about a year later, I got pregnant,
but tragically, I lost the baby along the way,
and the doctors had some more bad news for me,
and I'll never, ever forget what they had to say.
I also wanted to say Happy First Anniversary,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, (NAME), you're truly wonderful,
and here's to our everlasting love, for evermore.
I'll miss the jokes about "(NAME)",
Your infectious laugh and the stories of your family.
Remember us as your "baby nurses" and the fear on our faces,
Suctioning trachs and "cathing" private places.
Our first date was at (NAME),
you didn't like my sweater but loved my car,
as usual, we had egg drop soup and hot and sour soup,
I never thought two bowls of soup would get this far.
I'm proud to be your "favourite" first grandchild,
and that's what you tell everyone I know,
you then go into detail what I did as a child,
I guess you've always been proud watching me grow.
And I also wanted to Happy 80th Birthday,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, (NAME), grandmother, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to at least another eighty more!
They say that marriage can be hard,
and the first years are the hardest of all,
but ours have been simply wonderful,
with you I feel about ten feet tall.

because I know I'm a hot tempered guy,
and some times my tongue gets easily led.

I also can't believe the depth of feeling I have for you,
truly, it would reach to the bottom of the deepest sea,

You?re a fabulous grandfather and papa,
and I can?t wait until our baby meets you, face to face,
because I know <NAME> and <NAME> love you so,
and you?ve made all our world?s a much better place.
However, it wasn't shining so brightly on your birthday,
if I recall (you won't remember), you were twenty one,
so wasted, you had to be carried up the stairs by a friend,
that night, certainly, your drinking days were done.
But I guess we'd better move to New Jersey first,
and that's where (NAME) and (NAME) decided to land,
and we have so many wonderful, happy memories,
but I'm sure that this is something that you'll understand.

(NAME) had numerous stories about her childhood,
the farm, walking to school and having the first Model T,
and I remember as a child myself, trips to Aunt (NAME),
we'd play with the cousins (and that was a great place to be).

Our first year was a rough one,
you would certainly never call it red letter,
but this, gladly, is a whole new year,
and yes, it's going to get a whole lot better.
(NAME) is the first date to actually become a part of the family,
and thankfully, we don't just see him on the holidays,
it is quite apparent that he loves (NAME) very much,
and of course, I hope that's the way it always stays.
I am more comfortable with you than with anyone else,
you are my princess, you are my dream,
and after our first year together, it's wonderful,
we've proved to the World we truly are a team.
Not that you had to ask me the first time,
because it was innate, we simply just knew,
there was no proposal, no rings, just us,
and that's the hyphenated us, me-and-you.
When I first met you, I couldn't stand you,
but thankfully we worked at the same place,
so it didn't take us long to become friends,
and my shortcomings disappeared without a trace.
