I am more comfortable with you than with anyone else,
you are my princess, you are my dream,
and after our first year together, it's wonderful,
we've proved to the World we truly are a team.
And I also wanted to Happy 80th Birthday,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, (NAME), grandmother, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to at least another eighty more!
I also wanted to say "Happy Birthday",
but there's a few other words that need to be said,
because I know I'm a hot tempered guy,
and some times my tongue gets easily led.
(NAME) had numerous stories about her childhood,
the farm, walking to school and having the first Model T,
and I remember as a child myself, trips to Aunt (NAME),
we'd play with the cousins (and that was a great place to be).
I'm proud to be your "favourite" first grandchild,
and that's what you tell everyone I know,
you then go into detail what I did as a child,
I guess you've always been proud watching me grow.
Not that you had to ask me the first time,
because it was innate, we simply just knew,
there was no proposal, no rings, just us,
and that's the hyphenated us, me-and-you.
They say that marriage can be hard,
and the first years are the hardest of all,
but ours have been simply wonderful,
with you I feel about ten feet tall.
However, it wasn't shining so brightly on your birthday,
if I recall (you won't remember), you were twenty one,
so wasted, you had to be carried up the stairs by a friend,
that night, certainly, your drinking days were done.
I also wanted to say Happy First Anniversary,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, (NAME), you're wonderful,
and here's to our everlasting love, for evermore.
Our first date was at (NAME),
you didn't like my sweater but loved my car,
as usual, we had egg drop soup and hot and sour soup,
I never thought two bowls of soup would get this far.
So Happy 75th Birthday,
That's really what these words are for,
here's to you, (NAME), you're truly wonderful,
and here's to our love, for evermore.
I remember the time when Andrea got caught smoking,
I also remember the time when she changed her lock,
she got fed up with me always borrowing her shoes,
and yes, I'll admit to borrowing the odd party frock.
(NAME) is the first date to actually become a part of the family,
and thankfully, we don't just see him on the holidays,
it is quite apparent that he loves (NAME) very much,
and of course, I hope that's the way it always stays.
I'd also like to say Happy 75th Birthday,
I guess that's really what these words are for,
here's to you, <NAME>, you're truly wonderful,
and here's to our everlasting love, for evermore.
Our first year was a rough one,
you would certainly never call it red letter,
but this, gladly, is a whole new year,
and yes, it's going to get a whole lot better.
I also know that you're a very thoughtful and loving person,
Mom says she's never known anyone even half as kind,
even though you work so very hard every single day,
you come home and mom's the first thing on your mind.
Because then, we were into the baggy clothing,
but now look at us, the "baggies" have gone,
and (NAME), I just wanted to say thanks for being you,
your love for me has always brightly shone.
Although my first husband was a very good man,
and truly, we had many good times together,
but I know I've never felt this way before,
because what we share will last forever and ever.
I also can't believe the depth of feeling I have for you,
truly, it would reach to the bottom of the deepest sea,
and I'll never forget the our first date with your hand on my back,
what ran through me I can only describe as electricity.
Mind you, Dad worked at his Kraft for 45 years,
and at his retirement party, he received many an accolade,
all his colleagues just wanted to thank him,
but we too wanted to thank him for the role that he's played.

but absence only makes this heart grow fonder,

but thankfully we worked at the same place,
so it didn't take us long to become friends,
and my shortcomings disappeared without a trace.
