Mom likes that you can sit and talk about anything,
but you're also happy just sitting with nothing to say,
either way, Mom feels most comfortable when you're near her,
Mom says her finest 24 hours were all on her wedding day.
You own a spa, massages, facials, make up,
personal training, you know, that sort of thing,
but there's something missing in your life,
even though you're wearing that wedding ring.
You're great with the kids and you care for us all,
and I know as children go, I am like the third,
but when you said "I do" on our wedding day,
well, they were the sweetest words I've ever heard.
Because it wasn't long before you could hear wedding bells,
Dad was nervous and the grapefruit juice said "hi!"
There you knelt at the alter, Dad white as a ghost,
and in his hands, he kept the juice (or gave it his very best try).
Because in no time at all we were off to Vegas,
thanks to the enormous generosity of our friends,
$36.00 worth of pennies and a double wedding later,
but that's not quite where this story ends.
I'll never forget our beautiful wedding ceremony,
exactly three years later, in the garden where we met,
and I know our story is only just starting,
as the saying goes: "You ain't see nothing yet!"
I remember Ma insisting, against my mother's wishes,
at my wedding, I should have salami on the meat trays,
she certainly taught me to stand up for myself,
but I'm grateful to her in so many other ways.
Hear me, my darling, speaking sooth,
Gather the fleet flower of your youth,
Take ye your pleasure at the best;
Be merry ere your beauty flit,
For length of days will tarnish it
Like roses that were loveliest.
And I'll never forget our beautiful, so perfect wedding,
I don't remember ever feeling as happy as I did on that day,
I will never forget the way you looked at me as you spoke,
your eyes said everything that you needed to say.
And married life is by far the best thing I've ever done,
(NAME) and I love each other more with every passing hour,
so please, just let your love blossom and grow,
and nurture it, like the world's most precious flower,.
You wrote and read a poem at your father?s service,
and you spoke about him missing your wedding day,
and although that one line expresses so much,
it still means there's so much left to say:
You love those old black and white movies,
and from Cleveland, you've travelled afar,
and I think our wedding song was simply perfect,
because you are loved: "Just the way you are"
It's like a beautiful and delicate desert orchid,
where once there was sand there's now a flower,
and that orchid continues to bloom and blossom,
and it is getting more beautiful by the hour.
And thankfully, it wasn?t a shotgun wedding,
but I do want to thank you for the most special day of my life,
just know that you?re still my anchor, my King of Hearts,
even though, after being shot at, (NAME) made me his wife.
I give you my love forever true,
my truest ever words, spoken on our wedding day,
and "Idioma" or "Pansy", I love you,
but I do have a couple of other things to say:
We started with a small affair at (WEDDING VENUE),
but a few months later we entertained around 1000 guests,
we sought the blessings of the Gods, our family and friends,
well, I reckon that, with honours, we've passed many of the tests
We've been apart since our wedding,
a cold wintry morning on (DATE)
but it's only our jobs and circumstance that could separate us,
because only with you, my world's a better place to be.
Because over that year our love has evolved,
and it's grown to become this beautiful, living thing
and I just wanted to say that I'm proud of you,
I'm very proud that you're wearing my wedding ring.
Just like the sun that streamed through the stained glass windows,
a simple family wedding, marrying the man of my dreams,
I'll never forget the harpist, the beautiful small chapel,
that's where we became one of the world's finest teams.
I know our wedding was very small,
but there was a big feeling, here in my chest,
because I knew I was marrying the man of my dreams,
and now I know I've married the very best.
