At the end of an Autumn day,
there's a feeling of peace in the air,
the fruit trees are heavy with their load,
the crop is bountiful and ready to share.
And I wish I'd known my Dad better,
I wish him peace, I wish him still
and just like that perfect Autumn evening,
I still love my father and I guess I always will.
I remember writing you a poem once before,
if I recall, it was our very first Valentine's date,
I woke up in the middle of the night,
and put pen to paper about my soul mate.
So from The Big Kids and The Little Kids,
(and with this poem we proudly unite),
we'd like to say a very big thank you,
thanks for being our guiding light.
A long, long time ago,
I purchased a poem, similar to this,
lame verse after lame verse,
with rhymes like "sealed with a kiss".
Our love is like the autumn sun,
it'll warm us and keep out the winter chill,
just know that I love you now,
and of course, that I always will.
And now our families are together,
they too have joined as one,
and together we will share our sunsets,
and together we'll enjoy our autumn sun.
You said you would love it if I would write you a poem,
but I know that you're very creative, and I am not at all,
but in anything I have ever done, you've supported me 110%,
and I am just so very glad that you made that initial call.
Hello (NAME),
This poem is just for you,
Filled with love and sparkle,
Just like your eyes so blue.
For our wonderful parents,
this poem is just for you,
especially commissioned for the occasion,
we've got an awful lot to get through.
So just know that we think (NAME) was a hero,
and everyday he's there in our heart,
I don't know how much one poem can do,
but I do know that (hopefully) it's a start.
And Autumn leaves keep on falling
and the leaves once dropped, there they stay
and everybody gets to leave this Earth,
inevitably, everybody has their final day.
The summer sun has warmed the fruit
and the growing job has been done,
as the early leaves start to fall in the evening breeze,
the last warmth fades from the Autumn sun.
You wrote and read a poem at your father?s service,
and you spoke about him missing your wedding day,
and although that one line expresses so much,
it still means there's so much left to say:
So, we want you to read this poem often,
so you're reminded of just how marvelous you really are,
because if our admiration was a distance,
then it would be further than the furthest star.
Hello, my wonderful Grandparents,
this poem is just for you,
because we're proud of who you are,
and we're proud of what you do.
