I know you like a beer or twelve,
and after a few, you do make a woeful sight,
and some of your attempts to get home can be desperate,
especially when your car's been impounded overnight !
Because this was on top of being a secretary and raising 7 kids,
I don?t know where she got her energy, her light,
but she embraced paper plates and plastic silverware early on,
and leftovers were separated and frozen every night.
Dad would take us grocery shopping on a Saturday,
it was something he did, strangely, year after year,
I guess it was because he liked groceries,
and not because, afterwards, he'd take us for a beer.
I think you had an honesty which was refreshing,
and a love of the simple things in life,
your bike, a beer, a paper, even a snooze,
but most of all, you loved your family, your son and your wife.
So now its less stress,
and exercise every day,
he's cutting down on the beer,
and relearning how to play.
You see, we're all gathered here,
to award the employee of the year,
it's the reason for this gathering,
and why we've ordered in more beer !
I know you like a beer,
in fact, maybe one or ten,
open a beer, drink it down,
and then you start all over again !
Does he know what he's in for ?
Married to a girl called (NAME),
just think of all that lovely plastic -
Hey, big spenda !
(NAME) is notoriously reticent,
and we all know he can't handle his beer,
but boy there are some stories I could tell,
and I will - but not now and not here !
Do You Remember?
Sleigh riding down (place),
have a mug of hot chocolate,
and then we'd do it all once again.
Do You Remember?
At company picnics, raw clams and beer could make you bloat,
(names) and so many others,
just how many men can you get in that yellow boat?
And one last word of advice,
because, after all, you're hearty and hale,
don't brew too much of that wonderful drop,
your beer called "Little House Ale".
(name) is an electrician,
so you could say that he likes a beer,
and boy there are more stories I could tell,
and I will - but not now and not here !
Dad has always been a prankster,
he's never happy unless he's pulling a prank,
so if there's a plastic fly in your soup,
well then, you just know who to thank !
^!,
as I know Doug is nervously holding a blue ribbon steer,
but we would like to invite you to his 50th party,
a time for some chow and yes indeed, some beer.

Salt Of The Earth
Ladies and gentlemen,
can I have your attention please?
Because every now and then in life,
there's opportunity you should seize.
Because days, weeks, months happen,
and the years they can go so fast,
and words that should get said,
don't - and if they do they never last.
So I'm going to change all that,
change it right here and right now,
I hope the right words come along,
I'll give it my best shot, anyhow.
You see, there are two very special "salty" people,
and that's why we're all gathered here,
you know that they're special,
and that we love them dear.
And the children would like to have their say,
and that's what these words are for,
because <Number>, <Number> and <Number>,
add up to lifelong happiness for evermore.
But before we start our thanks,
maybe it's time to look back a while,
let's take a walk down memory lane,
I'm sure that we'll be able to find a smile.
It all started in <Place>, <Place>,
late <Date>, but not just another teenage romance,
Mom and Dad married straight after high school,
they were young and took their chance.
Dad played basketball for the school,
and Mom already knew her sixty love,
and even then they put God first, after all,
there marriage was made in the heavens above.
Dad has always been a prankster,
he's never happy unless he's pulling a prank,
so if there's a plastic fly in your soup,
well then, you just know who to thank !
Mom has always been the homemaker,
in the kitchen she's certainly got what it takes,
and I know many, many a person,
who would give dollars for one of her pound cakes.
I'm glad "retired" is just a word,
because both Mom and Dad help at the store,
Dad restores the furniture, Mom answers the phone,
and there goes another satisfied customer (once more).
Our parents have always been there for us,
whether to give advice or simply lend a hand,
they've always provided encouragement,
and a shoulder to cry on that would understand.
They've always had a terrific faith,
and those sound values they've passed on,
their love for God and their children is obvious,
it has consistently and brightly shone.
So we'd really just like to say thanks,
you've been an inspiration to us all,
we feel like we're on your shoulders,
you've made us feel about twelve feet tall.
Because you've shown the true meaning of love,
and you've been there every step of the way,
like the Romans, you're worth your weight in salt,
now - what more can there be left to say?
Apart from: We love you so very much,
you are indeed the salt of this earth,
and now we know the meaning of family,
and what two great parents are worth.
So thanks - we do love you so,
that's really what these words are for,
here's to you Mom and Dad,
and here's to another <Number> more !

Curtains For <Name>
I'm sorry <Name>,
but it's curtains for you, my friend,
although we're sorry to see you go,
every good story needs a good end.
And as those curtains draw across the stage
and you take your final bow,
there's a few things we should say
and we'll try to say them - somehow.
You see, you are so loyal and dependable,
when you say you're going to do something - it gets done,
you've bought so many successful brands to our shores,
apart from Pierre Cardin (we'll forget that one!)
And from the small beginnings in a loft,
the American Marketing Team has grown and grown,
much of that success, especially in the early years,
was because of all the effort that you've shown.
And you will be sadly missed,
by us and many more
and we just wanted to wish you bon voyage,
that's really what these words are for.
And you may have to batten down the hatches,
especially when the next good blow comes in,
of course you'll manage in your normal style,
effortlessly and with that satisfied grin.
And you've made many an impact,
as you've worked steadfastly over the years,
<Name>, <Name>, <Name,
<Name> (let's not forget <Name>).
And one last word of advice,
because, after all, you're hearty and hale,
don't brew too much of that wonderful drop,
your beer called "Little House Ale".
And now you'll spend more time with <Name>
and you'll sail off to sun soaked climes
and we wish you continued joy and happiness,
just another reason for these rhymes.
In fact, those sails are your curtains
and now you'll have time for many an horizon new,
just know that we'll miss you heaps
and that we're very proud of you.
