Ah, Mignonne, in how few hours,
The petals of her purple flowers
All have faded, fallen, died;
Sad Nature, mother ruinous,
That seest thy fair child perish thus
'Twixt matin song and even tide.
Every week, she watches my daughter while I work,
and it was not easy, caring for a child on my own,
but (NAME) has always loved me so unconditionally,
I'm very grateful for all the love that she's shown.
I'm proud to be your "favourite" first grandchild,
and that's what you tell everyone I know,
you then go into detail what I did as a child,
I guess you've always been proud watching me grow.
(NAME) had numerous stories about her childhood,
the farm, walking to school and having the first Model T,
and I remember as a child myself, trips to Aunt (NAME),
we'd play with the cousins (and that was a great place to be).

They found some problems that I'd been fighting for years,
and this meant that I could no longer give birth
it broke my heart I couldn't give you a child of your own,
it was about then I found out your true and honest worth.
She was from (PLACE), she was an awesome bowler,
Swedish heritage but became an Italian through and through,
she was proud of her large family (she was an only child),
and all twenty Eight say: "(NAME), we're very proud of you"
I'll never forget the marina nor the sunset,
as the sun was setting I announced our new dawn,
and I'd like to thank for our miracle child,
I felt complete on the day that he was born.
(NAME) had numerous stories about her childhood,

we'd play with the cousins (and that was a great place to be).
You see, you've grown up so beautifully,
and remember, I've know you since you were a child,
but I must admit, at times, you've worried me,
and there were parts of you that had grown a little wild.
Our child will have a wonderful mother,
you are caring, loving, thoughtful and kind,
and I'm looking forward to our future,
our three destinies are forever entwined.
Because you must have been a miracle child,
for now you truly are a remarkable man,
you are just like "Patch Adams",
caring, lovable and just doing what you can.
You've made such a difference to us,
I'm so glad it was your number that I dialed,
because I sincerely believe, that without you,
I would've never got to hold my miracle child.
(NAME) has traveled far and wide,
unfortunately, some of it was with Liberty One,
(NAME) was a child of the dot com revolution,
and we've all been burnt by that imaginary sun.
He is the most unselfish man I know
and as a child there was little he possessed,
he grew up on lard sandwiches and biscuits,
but he made sure his family always had the best.
Growing up, every child had a major accident,
Mom would stay calm and in control, so we're told,
but as soon as we'd get to the hospital to get patched up,
well, then she'd be overcome and pass out cold.
Dad talks the talk and walks the walk,
he has always been as solid as a rock,
and Mom has more energy than all of us combined,
probably because she's kept that child like clock.
Because she still sees the world through the eyes of that child,
but we think that's the greatest view of all,
and because of you both, we all walk taller,
personally speaking, I feel about ten feet tall.
You assumed the role of "Dad" through tragic circumstances,
and their father took away everything a child has to lose,
but you've been such a wonderful inspiration to us all,
and to be brutally honest, he could never, ever fill your shoes,
It takes a village to raise a child,
but there are many children with no one to hold,
and we need to rescue the village's children,
because they too, have a story to be told.
Because (NAME), truly, you are a beautiful child of God,
and you have such a pure, white and innocent soul,
and we know that you have all eternity to look forward to,
but we would like to thank you for your earthly role.
And you were always singing and dancing as a child,
and it's on that energy you've always certainly thrived,
but guess what? There's no need to ask if you're there yet,
because yes, (NAME), you've definitely arrived.
I know (NAME) is a very demanding child,
she is an excellent student, but likes to procrastinate,
and I'm sorry, she needs constant disciplining,
and truly, that's a very painful thing to have to state.
My sisters and brother were so much older than me,
when I was in kindergarten they were striking out on their own,
in truth, it felt like I was the only child,
and I'm very grateful for all the love that you've shown.
But (NAME) was always very important to me,
he was the best stepfather any child ever had,
but more than that, he was my true friend,
and I don't think anyone'll mind if I call him Dad.
I know you?re going to be the best Daddy in the World,
but that?s another journey, to be told another day,
and when our child asks who is father is,
well, I'll reply: ?It?s the simply wonderful (NAME).?
He would also, on occasion, bring us home a gift,
we'd run to his room and wait for him to open his case,
it's always a wonderful and magical look,
that look of eager expectation on a child's face.
From (PLACE) to the (PLACE),
you keep moving right along,
and soon there?ll be another child
to join what is already a happy throng.
