So, if you haven't guessed it by now,
I am so very happy, on the surface and deep inside,
and I'm just so very, very glad,
that I chose you as my bride.
(NAME) has gotten married,
he's chosen (NAME), a lovely bride,
I have so many mixed emotions,
happiness, sadness and a lot of pride.
And I know that Dad is still with us,
I can feel him here, with a sense of pride,
for he too knows (NAME) couldn?t have been a finer son,
and (NAME) couldn?t have been a better bride.
You wore beige pants and a yellow golf shirt,
I wore a royal blue silk dress,
our first date was at the (PLACE),
my first course was lifelong happiness.
Because I do love you both so very much,
and I hope there's not a dry eye in the room,
because I want to say I'm proud of you,
and let's drink to (NAME) and (NAME), the bride and groom.
I just wanted to say thank you
and it's a thank you from way deep inside,
thank you for being who you are,
and thank you for such a beautiful bride.
We tried to stay optimistic about the wedding,
but Frances's path was not going to be denied,
and we received word that the cruise was cancelled,
and very quickly, there was only a tearful bride.
I'll never forget the 23 years of Christmas gifts,
and shopping at JC Penney will never again, be the same,
I think I'll wear her favorite green and pink shirt,
I might even wear it to a basketball game.
So I Got You Babe,
yes babe, I'm amazed by you, too,
just know that I'm so happy to be your bride,
and most of all, that I really, really LOVE YOU.
Now, (NAME) loves the St. Louis Cardinals,
and every night, he puts on his shirt to watch the game,
he's the love of my life (and he took some finding),
ever since I've met him, I've never been the same.
Because, whilst you battled your illness,
you'd give away your last $5 or the shirt off your back,
kindness, compassion and generosity,
were qualities that you never lacked.
And unbelievably, the wind and the rain died down,
and yes, we basked in God's love and the sun shone,
and as the bride stood in the aisle between her two important men,
she thanked her blessings for everything that had gone wrong.
So I think I'll finish by saying "All the very best",
and I know that sentiment is shared by all in this room,
so it gives me great pleasure to say: "Ladies and gentlemen,
please raise your glasses, the toast is 'The Bride and Groom' ".
But (NAME) (maybe I should call you the lion trainer),
be tamed and cooled your still beautiful but wild side,
and today, you look the happiest you've ever been,
and I'm sure everybody agrees, you make a beautiful bride.
They got married at an early age,
in fact, Mom at seventeen was a "child bride",
but their marriage has been a strong one,
we couldn't have picked better parents - even if we'd tried.
I was just a twinkle in your eye at your impromptu wedding,
but when destiny calls, you just have to go with the winds of fate,
and I do think you think you looked so handsome in that Hawaiian shirt,
and it was quite obvious that you were marrying your soul-mate.
We made it just before they were closing,
the hurricane was coming and it was the weekend,
the bridesmaids and bride made the bouquets, the cake,
and we arranged a choir, thanks to a very good friend.
You would do anything for anyone,
you would have given them the shirt off your back,
you were kind, generous and caring,
they were qualities that you never lacked.
I have many wonderful pictures of you as a young woman,
and from them, I know that you were a very beautiful bride
but I just know I couldn't have chosen a finer grandmother,
I know I couldn't - even if I'd tried.
But in the meantime, just know that you have my undying love,
I think of (NAME), my brother, and my chest swells with pride,
so I think I'll finish by asking you all to raise your glasses,
and the toast is: (NAME) and (NAME), the groom and his beautiful bride.
They will never see anyone go without,
and would give their shirt off their own back,
compassion and understanding,
are two attributes they'll never lack.
So I just want to say thank you,
For choosing me as your bride,
Because we will ride into our sunset,
Lifelong partners, side by side.
I wanted to talk about your tearful proposal,
or our wedding day when I was the loving bride,
but all I can think of is to thank you for being you,
I couldn't have picked a finer husband - even if I'd tried.
Because the best decision I ever made was to marry you,
I was no April fool, I was your bride,
and I know I couldn't have chosen a finer partner,
I know I couldn't - even if I'd tried.
You started your academic career at Pine Pend,
you always wanted to wear a shirt and tie,
I remember the day you left for kindergarten,
but that was only yesterday (and I've still a tear in my eye).
