And it took us a while to become an item,

We love, we listen, we understand one another,

But it hasn't always been plain sailing,
the MBA meant studying many a long night,
and we spent an entire year of dating in the library,
but your love kept on shining so wonderfully bright.

Look, I think this is an opportunity we should seize,
I'll even let you rub lotion into my sensitive feet,
and yes, you can handcuff me (yes, yes, please).
And her short bread biscuits were simply to die for,
not to mention her sweet potato and macaroni & cheese,
and I'll never forget the Christmas Mock Crayfish,
the best ever. (Would you like some more? Yes, please!)
You?ve always been an incredibly honest person,
and honesty has been just one of the lessons that you?ve taught,
but you?ve always been there for both of us,
so we?d like to thank you for your unconditional support.
So (NAME) put herself through college,
and she was an elementary teacher for 34 years,
she loved her job and was proud of her achievement,
she seemed to thrive on the tantrums and the tears.
I see you as a peace bringer,
Building from an inner strength,
I guess these words need explaining,
And maybe, at length.
I also know that one day you?ll have more children,
and your Dad too, will enjoy watching them grow,
so now it?s time for you to move forward,
you can?t hold back an eagle, so just let him go.
Picture a workaholic, hiking across the desert,
and that sort of sums up our "no bullshit" Dad,
he's a tough business man, "an accountant by trade",
but at selling toilets, he's not at all half bad.
You see, my love for you is an eternal ocean,
it's a deep, passionate and long lasting love,
and I know I've been blessed to have shared you,
in truth, I've been blessed by the heavens above.
But of course, he won?t be sitting in the pews,
because truly, he?s soaring in the heavens above,
as you should know, your Dad was an eagle,
and you should know, you?ll always have his love.
And I don?t think it?ll be that scary,
although of course, life just won?t be the same,
but I think it would be an interesting journey,
to go back to the star from whence you came.

We met on a blind date, but I was not blind,
I liked you immediately, as you talk and dance with your hands,
you are also extremely smart and intelligent,
and you always give me an ear that understands.
I know you both love watching men's college basketball
and you also watch a lot of football, I know,
and thanks to your "football class", Mom's now an expert,
she can spot the penalties before the ref has had a chance to blow.
You may not know this, but if it weren't for you I would have given up,
and that's something I would've lived with for the rest of my days,
it has been an important lesson for me to learn,
I know that where there's a will there are ways.
You play Canasta, sometimes a (NAME)
and you know what baseball and football's all about,
and (NAME) once made you an offer that was hard to refuse,
"I've got two big ones, do you wanna go out?"
Now, I guess the very worst scenario,
is that you don?t get to hear or sing an angels song,
maybe there?s no afterlife, after all,
and religion has got it all so very wrong.
I know you like a drink and a good chat,
but you?ve always given us an ear that?ll understand,
and I know you?ve been a very protective and proud father,
but to be honest, you?re the best Dad in all this land.
Mind you, Dad worked at his Kraft for 45 years,
and at his retirement party, he received many an accolade,
all his colleagues just wanted to thank him,
but we too wanted to thank him for the role that he's played.

then I'm going to need my own healing time,
and for a while, I won't be the friend you need,
it may take an age to get my words to rhyme.
(NAME)(NAME) is a beautiful name, just like you,
it conjures up an image of magical pink sky,
and I think this is only the dawn of our future,
I'd better explain that, or at least I'll try.
Now it's been said that (NAME) likes his food,
and if it was an Olympic sport, he'd win the 'eat,
but of all the husbands on this planet,
I know I'm lucky (because mine just can't be beat).
Because I know you have an interest in dancing ,
. and that you've performed on the stage many times ,
you've also choreographed for some children in (PLACE),
let me tell you, you've put the reasons in these rhymes
I have had an extremely hard time dealing with Mom's issues,
to be honest, I've been shaken to the core and beyond,
but you've been unbelievably supportive and encouraging,
your understanding has been like my magic wand.
Because we have our undeniable love,
and as we've proved, that's an unstoppable force,
and if we think of my illness as a flowing river,
well, this river has just got to run it's course.
One of four children in an Italian family,
Lenny (the little kid) soon grew up and roared,
he started the business we all work for,
(but it's only because of us that it's really soared).
