Because about a year later, I got pregnant,
but tragically, I lost the baby along the way,
and the doctors had some more bad news for me,
and I'll never, ever forget what they had to say.
You are so good I had to marry you twice,
and at one of them, 200 guests had a "sit down",
and I'll never forget our idealistic honeymoon in St. Barts,
and nor Honolulu (not a bad little town).
And there's a difference between good and bad tired,
bad tired is when you've done nothing useful all day,
but good tired is when you've lived and served your purpose,
and that one line leaves this one thing to say:
Seriously, I would like us to be in more of a relationship,
I'd like to explore just where this journey ends,
but just in case, just in case that never happens,
I want you to know I'm also happy to be just friends.
And if that is the highly unqualified case,
then all your left with is that simple peace,
then death wouldn?t be so bad after all,
because all of your worries would magically cease.
Different shifts meant we were like ships in the night,
then I had a bad experience with a co-worker and just left,
I'm sorry, because I know now that I broke your heart,
but I too was all washed up, I too felt so bereft.
But it took us 17 long years to reconnect,
and in Princeton, we re-found what we?d once lost,
but since then, we?ve suffered a long distance relationship,
but that was the pact we made (and we knew the cost).
Last year I had a bad episode with my health,
I had a bad migraine and couldn't speak well or walk,
I knew in my heart I was dying, but you were there for me,
to feed me, to bathe me, but to importantly, talk.
And we've come a long way from (NAME),
and we've journeyed down many a (NAME)street,
but in the theater of life, I think we're lucky,
because after all, this is not such a bad seat.
Through the good times and the bad times,
you've enriched my life on just every single day,
and just know that I'll always be there for you,
no matter what, together, we will find a way.
But (NAME), thanks for getting my boyfriend to smoke again,
despite your best efforts, I still got him to quit,
but if I had to sum up our relationship in one line,
brother, (NAME), I think this would be it:
Through the good times and the bad times,
you've enriched my life on just every single day,
and just know that I'll always be there for you,
no matter what, together, we will find a way.
Because I think our relationship is extraordinary,
(NAME) Raisin and Dop-a-dee-dee,
he's given me so much throughout my life
and he means the very world to me.
I know things are currently bad with us,
just like any medicine, it's left an aftertaste,
but I know that the future can be brighter,
this last year's been hard, not a waste.
But to be honest, I'm proud of you every single day,
and as you know, (NAME) and I are best friends, we're soul-mates,
but a couple of years ago we went through a bad time,
we just couldn't tame and master those cruel winds of fates.
Picture a workaholic, hiking across the desert,
and that sort of sums up our "no bullshit" Dad,
he's a tough business man, "an accountant by trade",
but at selling toilets, he's not at all half bad.
We have created generations of Great people,
not bad at all for a broke 16 and 17 year old,
we've been through many funny, sad, happy and embarrassing times,
but maybe there's another time when those stories will be told.
You always make people feel good, never bad,
even when they're rude to impatient (to say what's on their mind),
and I know sometimes you have to deal with plain stupidity,
but there's only one word in your dictionary (and that's kind).
No matter whether times are good or bad,
we will know that together we'll stand,
and Jesus will always be here for us,
just like Our Father has always planned.

but warm and heartfelt e-mails and letters warmed that land,
and although these two lovers shared a long distance relationship,
there's was obviously nothing physical, you understand.
And I just want us to be a family,
and look, I know we've had a bad first year,
and now I'm deployed in Iraq, that makes it harder,
you could feel my love if I could just hold you near.
So in the meantime, please stay safe,
there's four hearts here who are missing you real bad,
one heart misses her wonderful husband,
and three hearts have the world's greatest Dad.
You see, I aspire to your kind of relationship,
it's one where the mail is always on time,
it's one where you sing and dance in the kitchen,
even when you can't get your words to rhyme.
Because you've given me so much in my life,
you've given me proof that the bad guys don't always win,
and I just wanted to say "we're proud of you",
but in truth, I just didn't know where to begin.
Grandad, you're simply a precious gem,
and I wager that's not the first time that's been said,
you never say a bad word about anybody,
and if there's an example to be set, others are led.
Son, we've always had a close relationship,
that was, until you got married, just a year ago,
and now I've got some thoughts on my mind,
yes, there's a few heartfelts that you should know:

through the good times, and certainly through the bad,
and you said it all in that wonderful, moving speech,
on my wedding day, I was very proud of my Dad.
