Because that was the beginning of a lot of more problems,
and there's a lot more of that tale I could tell,
but I knew you were there, with me all the way,
as I always know what you're feeling, I know you that well.
Because I think our relationship is extraordinary,
(NAME) Raisin and Dop-a-dee-dee,
he's given me so much throughout my life
and he means the very world to me.
Son, we've always had a close relationship,
that was, until you got married, just a year ago,
and now I've got some thoughts on my mind,
yes, there's a few heartfelts that you should know:
So, we hit it off from the very beginning,
and we started hanging out in January of 1998,
and it only took us a couple of months to realize,
well, we realized here was a potential soul-mate.

there's was obviously nothing physical, you understand.

You said you would love it if I would write you a poem,
but I know that you're very creative, and I am not at all,
but in anything I have ever done, you've supported me 110%,
and I am just so very glad that you made that initial call.
But (NAME), thanks for getting my boyfriend to smoke again,
despite your best efforts, I still got him to quit,
but if I had to sum up our relationship in one line,
brother, (NAME), I think this would be it:
So I wasn't looking for a relationship,
but like that ship, I didn't account for the winds of fate,
and now I'm just so thankful for those favorable breezes,
because of them, I've finally found my soul-mate.
Now, it's been quite hard to spend time with each other,
and that has certainly caused some clouds of gloom,
it would be awkward to have an open relationship,
but I do enjoy those moments in my operating room.
Our relationship is the best I've ever had,
you truly are my soul-mate and the love of my life,
I just wanted to say, "I'm proud of you",
and very proud to be known as your wife.
You wrote and read a poem at your father?s service,
and you spoke about him missing your wedding day,
and although that one line expresses so much,
it still means there's so much left to say:
I have no end, you have no beginning,
we are just the one, strands of the same thread,
and that thread is worn proudly on your sleeve,
so hopefully, this makes up for the words I've never said.
But it took us 17 long years to reconnect,
and in Princeton, we re-found what we?d once lost,
but since then, we?ve suffered a long distance relationship,
but that was the pact we made (and we knew the cost).
I remember the first time you shaved your moustache off,
that was the beginning of our passionate affair,
but over time, that passion turned into deep love,
and now my life is something that I can share.
You see, I aspire to your kind of relationship,
it's one where the mail is always on time,
it's one where you sing and dance in the kitchen,
even when you can't get your words to rhyme.
Seriously, I would like us to be in more of a relationship,
I'd like to explore just where this journey ends,
but just in case, just in case that never happens,
I want you to know I'm also happy to be just friends.
