You see, she was my firest born,
she had laughing eyes that were blue,
a smile that would remove your worries,
and she'd just know what to do.
Because they've sprinkled sunlight in your hair,
and they've given you the bluest of blue eyes,
and you've got your father's good looks,
but of course, that should come as no surprise.
You had big deep blue eyes,
like an ocean, so deep and still,
I'll always remember you so lovingly,
I'll never forget you, I never will.
He doesn't like people who are lazy,
or people who get up early on a Sunday morning,
so if want to spend the weekend in the Blue Mountains,
well. now you know, you've had your warning !
So thanks for teaching me how to dream,
thanks for teaching me to get up after a fall,
Dad, just know that I love you very much,
you?re the King of Hearts, to Blue, the greatest one of all.
But I did want to explain what you mean to me,
or at least I wanted to give it my very best try,
and if I think of the finest Summer?s day, ever,
then you are the blue that makes up the sky.
And as you know, baby's can be expensive,
so it'll be out of the blue and into the red,
but I just wanted to say "Thank You"
and maybe that's just enough said.
And in (DATE) our dreams came true,
and out of the blue, we conceived,
and now we're counting the days,
because we lived our dream and we believed.
I'm so glad that we met that time (out of the blue)
because that allowed our friendship to blossom and grow,
we fell in love, it felt so wonderful,
and there's a few other things that you should know.
And as you lay gurgling,
With eyes as blue as the sky,
It's hard to describe how pretty you are,
But I'll give it one good try.
There were trips (PLACE) and (PLACE),
at Sand Hill Cove we'd climb the rocks and watch the boats,
we went to (PLACE), all in blue beanie caps to stay together,
(we couldn't afford to all have the same colored coats).
Because from my deepest blues, we're now diving to deeper blues,
but now we're talking about under the oceans, blue green,
and it's beneath the dappled surface that we share our passion,
and we've witnessed some of the finest miracles ever seen.
And that star must have shone over Egypt,
the thought of our honeymoon always makes me smile,
just you and me, the sun, the sand, the pyramids,
and I'll never forget our cruise down the Nile.
I also appreciate how you're learning to deal with my moods,
as you know, I can swing from very high to pretty low,
you have the ability to bring me out from the deepest blue,
and those are depths that no one should ever know.
And from our engagement to our wonderful wedding,
well, I guess that?s for another story to be told,
because I know we?ll share many more magical moments,
because (NAME)., it?s with you I?m going to get gray and old.
And here's a medley of (NAME) and (NAME),
true blue boys in just about every way,
and they've helped to make your sun shine again,
but we still have a few more heartfelt words left to say:
As a consequence we both went our separate ways,
but we were being looked after by the heavens above,
because in 2003, I called you out of the blue,
and a few months later, I opened the door to our rekindled love.
I'll never forget our engagement dinner,
but your proposal got delayed by my surprise,
so you proposed to me at 3 am in the morning,
of course I said "yes" (after I'd wiped the sleep from my eyes).
I guess a few of these lines will be borrowed,
and I know that you wanted something blue,
well, (NAME), I wanted to say a few words,
I wanted to say I?m very proud of you.
As a consequence we both went our separate ways,
but we were being looked after by the heavens above,
because in 2003, I called you out of the blue,
and a few months later, I opened the door to our rekindled love.
You wore beige pants and a yellow golf shirt,
I wore a royal blue silk dress,
our first date was at the (PLACE),
my first course was lifelong happiness.
