You're one of the stars in the soup kitchen,
and surely one of the stars from the heavens above,
we know that we've been blessed to have shared you,
we know that we've been blessed with your love.
And I don?t think it?ll be that scary,
although of course, life just won?t be the same,
but I think it would be an interesting journey,
to go back to the star from whence you came.
And I just wanted to say "I love you",
but in truth, I didn't know where to start,
so I thought I'd share a few feelings,
and give you some words straight from my heart:
You love those old black and white movies,
and from Cleveland, you've travelled afar,
and I think our wedding song was simply perfect,
because you are loved: "Just the way you are"
I also wanted to say what a beautiful lady you are,
not only are you attractive, you're also very smart,
I don't think you should listen to what your husband says,
this success story spotted another one right from the start.
I also appreciate how you're learning to deal with my moods,
as you know, I can swing from very high to pretty low,
you have the ability to bring me out from the deepest blue,
and those are depths that no one should ever know.
We have a 29 year difference in our age
but that has not stopped us from enjoying each other,
you're my best friend, my confidant,
you're my husband and yes, my lover.
And we just wanted to say "we love you",
but in truth, we didn't know where to start,
so we thought we'd share a few feelings,
and give you some words, straight from the heart.
I?ll never forget you always getting a hotel with a pool,
just for Joe and I, you?d drive for hours and hours,
and I?ve learned so much from you,
like count the pennies, but always smell the flowers.
But I also know that you like to travel,
so now, you're really able to stretch your wings,
and from now on, whenever I hear loud, country music
I'll close my eyes and just imagine how my angel sings.
We just can't understand why you were taken from us,
but I guess in the end, you had to answer God's call,
He obviously had a greater purpose for you up there,
although what you achieved on Earth was by no means small.
You gave me the courage to follow in your steps,
and at the end of day, that?s the greatest gift of all,
as Dad, because of you I walk taller,
in fact, I feel like I?m ten feel tall!
Because you have persistently and consistently loved us,
and it seems like 'you' is always the last thing on your mind,
you have this wonderful gift of being able to inspire,
and we know that's a treasure and so very hard to find.
Because from my deepest blues, we're now diving to deeper blues,
but now we're talking about under the oceans, blue green,
and it's beneath the dappled surface that we share our passion,
and we've witnessed some of the finest miracles ever seen.
And we?ll never forget those two torturous days,
I think the Watermelon Wagon was ahead of it?s time,
we remember begging you to pick us up from Surf Beach,
but you still managed to put reason in our rhyme.
Every time you?d pick me up from school in that Renault,
well, it made me appreciate everything you?ve done,
because your love has been my light, my inspiration,
in every way, you?ve been like my morning sun.
And we just wanted to say "we love you",
but in truth, we didn't know where to start,
so we thought we'd share a few feelings,
and give you some words, straight from the heart:
You are the greatest gift on earth,
in fact, a gift from God above,
and now I know the meaning of marriage,
and now I know the meaning of true love.
Because I know you felt betrayed by those you trusted,
but now I am glad, you've finally awoke from that haze,
and I know you're enjoying your many new projects,
so I foresee, for us, only the happiest of days.
I've gone from not caring to highly driven,
you're my oil, you're my motor, my v eight,
but much more that, you're my best friend,
my lover, my confidant, my very own soul-mate.
And I know your father wasn?t quite like that,
in truth, he never killed the dragon that lived inside,
but from selling newspapers, to the Vietnam war,
I know that you have been a great source of pride.
And I just wanted to say "I love you",
but in truth, I didn't know where to start,
so I thought I'd share a few feelings,
and give you some words, they're straight from the heart:
I know we haven't spent that much time together,
but absence only makes this heart grow fonder,
and from the very first day, I knew you were simply wonderful,
I knew then, I no longer wanted to wander.
