Because he is such a perfect individual,
and truly, he is our dreams personified,
and I know he couldn't have chosen a finer mother,
I know he couldn't - even if he'd tried.
Everyone that knew you, loved you,
and you got the most out of each and every day,
even after working such long hours you wanted more,
and that one line leaves so much left to say:
Ah, Mignonne, in how few hours,
The petals of her purple flowers
All have faded, fallen, died;
Sad Nature, mother ruinous,
That seest thy fair child perish thus
'Twixt matin song and even tide.
Mom, I'm not pulling on your "urethra",
because I do have a few heartfelt words to say,
and now is as good a time as any,
after all, it's not every day you have your birth-day.
My mother has been my inspiration,
she has guided me throughout my life,
and there are some words that I need to say,
especially now that I'm a wife :)
But this is meant to be a happy day,
happier for others than for some,
and I just wanted to share some thoughts,
because I wanted to tell you about my Mom:
See, Mignonne, hath not the Rose,
That this morning did unclose
Her purple mantle to the light,
Lost, before the day be dead,
The glory of her raiment red,
Her colour, bright as yours is bright?
Hello, my wonderful father,
my heart is full and I have a lot to say,
and I don?t think I?ll get a better opportunity,
after all, today, well, it is Father's Day.
The day you asked me was the most amazing and joyous day of my life,
and there was no hesitation at all when I gladly said " yes",
because I knew then that you were my everything,
and that we were destined for a lifetime of happiness.
I know they wheel out their tame doctors,
"drink two glasses of red wine every day".
Ever wondered who sponsors their research,
ever wondered how they get their pay?
And I'll never forget our beautiful, so perfect wedding,
I don't remember ever feeling as happy as I did on that day,
I will never forget the way you looked at me as you spoke,
your eyes said everything that you needed to say.
You gave me the courage to follow in your steps,
and at the end of day, that?s the greatest gift of all,
as Dad, because of you I walk taller,
in fact, I feel like I?m ten feel tall!
You are the greatest gift on earth,
in fact, a gift from God above,
and now I know the meaning of marriage,
and now I know the meaning of true love.
Because you have shown me what love is for,
and the love that two people can have for one another,
you have shown me how to be a devoted wife,
and of course, how to be a wonderful mother.
With every passing day I love you more,
so tomorrow, I know that I'll love you even more so,
you see, the love I have for you is a living, vibrant thing,
and I can't stop it, it continues to grow.
Because you are in my thoughts every single day,
I feel for and reach out for you every single day of my life,
and I just wanted you to know that I'm proud of you,
I'm so very proud to be known as your wife.
I have so much love, respect and admiration for you,
and every day, you prove just how much you truly care,
and if I could visualize the perfect husband,
well, my mind would conjure up a picture of you standing there.
And I?ve never felt prouder marching by your side,
and I?ve worn your dog tags every day since then,
and if you ever ask me to march with you,
I?ll say, without hesitation, ?yes, where and when?.
When I was a little girl,
I always dreamed of this day,
I knew the words off by heart,
I knew exactly what I would say.
My love for you just keeps on growing,
I love you more each and every day,
so tomorrow I know that I?ll love you a little more,
and that?s the way it will always stay.
I'm so looking forward to the adventures ahead,
and to our future stories, as yet unwritten and untold,
new careers, new homes and one day, children,
so it's with you, I'm looking forward to getting really old.
Because you taught me that everything is possible,
and now I find a way, because you gave me the will,
and I know you stayed with Mom as long as you could,
but at the end of the day, she?s really quite ill.
I know we haven't spent that much time together,
but absence only makes this heart grow fonder,
and from the very first day, I knew you were simply wonderful,
I knew then, I no longer wanted to wander.
Like the time we spent all day fishing,
we?d been quite successful and had a stringer of fish,
but then I went and lost the lot, you were quite upset,
and I was sad for a while, with many a forlorn wish.
